Carry on, Mr. Bowditch

I just read this for the first time. Wow! I loved it! I am currently reading it to my three little ones. I wasn't going to but they begged me and I thought I might as well until they got bored. Even my 3 1/2 year old is quiet and listening while I read it. (Nat just got indentured in our read-aloud) It's making for some great discussions and vocabulary lessons.

Does anyone happen to know, goodness knows I haven't checked yet, if there is more on Nathaniel Bowditch somewhere? He sounds like a fascinating individual.

We consumed the book!!! Great Example of self-teaching

My ds 15yo and I just finished it and loved it. We are so motivated to learn as he did and to use knowlege to help others. I recently found more information about him in the set of History books by Joy Hakim called The Story of US. A chapter devoted to him in the 5th book, I think. What a good man he was!!!
