Confession
When I first read about doing a six-month inventory, six-month purge, six-month no, I confused the three. My biggest problem is not too many activities (well, it wasn't at the time). My problem is too many belongings, too much clutter. I even have too much of some items in my food storage!!
So when I took a six-month inventory of our family's activities and belongings, and set up a six-month no to activities, that was fine, but the inventory and purge took... a couple years. And even then we did not get rid of everything we could have. I didn't realize it was supposed to happen every six months, or that it was not supposed to require six months to do a purge. (embarrassed face). In fact, I'm in the process of doing a purge again, and have been doing it since September. It's been three years since we moved last, hence three years since the last inventory and purge. On top of this the last purge was extremely incomplete. I was pregnant and anxious just to get it over with so I could set up in our new home.
I've only actually felt caught up on all the purging I need to do Twice in 19 years; the first time we had four years between children; a month later I was pregnant again. The second time we moved across the country without a moving van and had to get rid of everything extraneous.
So it's a work in progress. Don't feel guilty if your inventory takes a while. Decide first of all on your core classic and which principles apply most right now. Then inventory with that in mind.
