7 1/2 days to complete a whole house TJEd purge

I was hoping to spread this task out over a 3 week period but that has changed.

I now have to take dc to see the grandparents out of state.

Our home is in sore need of a major purge. 3 rooms are completely unusable because there is just too much stuff.

I need a place to report to at the end of the day. That's why I'm creating this thread.

My basic plan is as follows:

Friday (today, 1/2 day): Master bedroom closet and 1/2 of master bedroom. Kids working on
beginning the purge in their rooms.
Saturday: Finish master bedroom and clean laundry/dog room and sweep food storage room
Monday: Move downstairs family room to new location upstairs (already planned and 1/2 done).
When that is completed go back and clean/prep room to be new learning/school room.
Tuesday: Purge existing school room to be moved to other side of house.
Wednesday: Move school room down to new learning/school room
Thursday: Children's rooms
Friday: Carport

Staying focused is always my challenge but I think with a written plan of each days tasks it will be doable.

My goal is to be able to come back from out of state and begin working on fun science stuff we've been putting off.

Onward, ever onward!

Whoo-Hoo!

I did a major purge in the Spring since it gets too hot to move in Arizona during the summer. It does feel great when you are done.

P.S. I wish I had three rooms that could become "unusable". LOL - Our house is way too small and full of teens to have any spare space. It would be nice to have a school room rather than a school/dining room.

Distractions

Well, yesterday ended up being out ALL day.

GRRRRRR.

One good thing though is that I was able to pick up my new glasses. Reading is sooooo much easier now.

Today I have not accomplished as much as I wanted but I'm still working away.

MUST

PURGE

THE

HOUSE!

First things first!

Ready for battle!

I've got my warrior attitude on today.

First to the thrift store to drop off Saturday's purged items.

Second to the Library to sign kids up for the summer reading program.

Third is back home to work on the family room and getting the rearrangement completed. If that's done at a reasonable hour I'm going to tackle the dog room. I always feel better knowing that the dog room is not dirty.

Onward, ever onward!

Master bedroom done

Every detail is done in the master bedroom.

It feels like an oasis of calm!

Hurray!

Another 3 bags of garbage out and a box for the thrift store.

I am sooooooooo looking forward to coming home and having fun with my kids instead of worrying about decluttering.

Working, working, working

It took me 5 hours just to do the closet. There were alot of business papers that had to be gone through one by one. I took several boxes and 2 garbage bags to the thrift store.

It's done and I feel much better about it. We can now function better in that small part of the house.

I'm now working on the master bedroom and it's coming along a lot faster than the closet.

Onward, ever onward!

Inspiring!

You are inspiring me. I decluttered like mad all the week of May 19th - 26th, because I left for LDSEHE Homeschooling Conference on the 27th and I knew my dh would want to clean house while I was gone. So I put away the things that were most important to me and bagged things to go to the thrift store. Now that I'm back from the conference, I find my dh has indeed cleaned the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, deeply and well, has rearranged several things in the kitchen (they were inaccessible before, so I'm okay with it). The house looks wonderful, dh is thankful I'm home to take over again, and children are proud of their efforts to help Dad clean.

My next efforts will be to listen to the CDs I brought home, read through and study my notes from the conference, go through the garden weeding, and (most important) switch from the standard works of my church to the church General Conference reports for my personal study. I felt really strongly that I need to know what my religious leaders are saying now; I've spent many years studying what's in the scriptures, so I need the current instructions.

Keep up the good work, Cindy!
